Structural Insulated Panels, SIPs, consist of two parallel faces of Oriented Strand Board, OSB_3 sandwiching a rigid core of Polyurethane, PU foam, creating a composite panel with excellent structural and thermal characteristics.

SipBuild work with three different panel thicknesses, 100mm, 125mm and 150mm. Other thicknesses and finishes are available upon request.

All SipBuild SIPs are made in the UK and carry full BBA approval read more.

The SipBuild Structural Insulated Panel system is manufactured by injecting a precise blend of chemical P.U. foam under high pressure between the OSB faces. This process autohesively bonds the OSB and the foam core together as the chemical reaction occurs, resulting in superior bond strength compared to lamination techniques, and guarantees a continuous bond across the entire surface area of the panel.

Due to their composite construction, Structural Insulated Panels are deceptively strong.
Structural testing, carried out at UKAS accredited test centres has proven that SIP construction out performs conventional timber framing in both axial loading and racking, and in certain tests, the load bearing capability of the panels was comparable to medium density block-work.

These positive results mean that architects and designers have flexibility when working with SIPs, and that structural engineers can be confident in using SIP construction for a variety of building types. See the Technical section for test data and standard details.
